About Us
2010-2011 Project
The 2010-2011 DUC project brings together recent immigrant and 2nd generation teens who have very different experiences as Asian-Americans and seldom mix in their social or school activities. Teens in the leadership committee will:
- Develop and present 2 workshops on college planning, career choices and professional development (ex: resume writing, networking, and interviewing skills). The workshops will be planned throughout the year. Want to know more about our upcoming workshops? Check out our events!
- Visit 3-5 workplaces of Asian-American professionals throughout the year. The teens in leadership committee will see different work environments and various types of careers, particularly those in which Asian-Americans are underrepresented; as well as learn about the experiences that influenced their Asian-American identity and career choices. A write-up after each visit will be posted on the website. Want to know more about who we’ll be visiting next? Contact us!
- Organize a conference as a capstone to the project year at the end of the school year attended by more than 100 students. Students will explore information about careers, goal setting, meet Asian professionals and learn from their experiences as Asian-Americans. Do you want to attend? Contact us for details!
- Update and market www.quincyasianresources.org/duc for high school students by working with a volunteer web designer. The leadership committee updates the website by researching and creating content describing different careers and collecting information about higher education, finanical aid, etc. The website is a lasting resource that will be promoted to Asian and non-Asian high school students. Want to contribute to the website? Find out how to get involved!
