It seems that our every day lives are involved with statistics. We cannot make economic, social, political and military decisions with statistical techniques, such as the experience of designing a new drug. Statistics is the scientific application of mathematical principles to the collection, analysis, and presentation of numerical data. Statisticians contribute to scientific inquiry by applying their mathematical and statistical knowledge to the design of surveys and experiments; the collection, processing, and analysis of data; and the interpretation of the results. Statisticians may apply their knowledge of statistical methods to a variety of subject areas, such as biology, economics, engineering, medicine, public health, psychology, marketing, education, and sports.
Psychology

There is still a lot of stigma about mental health problems. Some people may think that psychology and counseling is only for “crazy” people, but they are not correct. Psychologists help people deal with challenges in their everyday lives. For instance, a psychologist might work with a client dealing with grief after they have just lost a loved one. Psychologists may work with people who had survived extreme abuse and trauma, and are struggling with depression and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Psychology is a competitive field to enter, but employment keeps growing due to increased demand for the practice.

Lawyers, also known as attorneys study law and government. There are many different types of professions in law, ranging from defending a party in the criminal and civil trial to protecting the civil rights of a civilian. For those that are interested in labor and personnel relations and studies, law and legal studies, they may be interested in becoming a legal mediator. People of that career resolve conflicts their clients may have outside the court system by analyzing evidence while applying it to the law, researching laws, regulations, and such. According to statistics, the average annual salary in 2001 for a legal mediator is $46,660. People who are interested in studying the origin, development, and operation of political systems may enjoy being a political scientist. This career is great for those who dislike public speaking and wish to work in their own space while studying topics such as public opinion and ideology. The annual salary in 2001 for a political scientist was $81,350 and $39.11 hourly.
