Full-time AmeriCorps VISTA

QARI is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to foster and promote the development of the social, cultural, economic and civic lives of Asian Americans to benefit the entire community. QARI works with other organizations to identify and develop programs to address the needs of the community. Among these programs are: ESOL and Citizenship classes; High school immigrant tutoring; partner programs addressing elderly health matters; legal clinics; and housing workshops.  QARI also actively engages community members and partner organizations to promote leadership and civic participation among the Asian community through teen volunteer, career, and leadership programs, and also through civic engagement forums such as bilingual candidates forums in election years.

Education, Volunteer and Event coordinator
As one of 3 Vista team members the candidate will coordinate programs and events such as: Adult English and Citizenship Programs, 2 large annual cultural festivals, Fundraising through grant writing and events, Communications through the agency website and other methods, the Adult volunteer program, Collaborative programs with agencies which serve the Asian community. The candidate will learn about all aspects of running a non profit agency as well as other duties as necessary in a dynamic office and appropriate to the candidate's skill set. Qualifications: Fluency in Cantonese, Mandarin, or Vietnamese preferred, an interest in immigrant communities, sensitivity to the needs of the Asian population, good interpersonal and organizational skills. Candidate will report to the Executive Director.

Asian Outreach- Vietnamese Outreach and Event Coordinator
As one of 3 Vista team members the candidate will coordinate events such as: Asian High School Leadership and Tutoring Programs, 2 large annual cultural festivals, Youth volunteer program and outreach effort of the agency. Candidate will work closely with the Executive Director to strengthen relationship with the local Vietnamese and Chinese communities. The candidate will learn about all aspects of running a non profit agency as well as other duties as necessary in a dynamic office and appropriate to the candidate's skill set. Qualifications: Background in Cantonese, Mandarin, or Vietnamese is a must, an interest in immigrant communities, sensitivity to the needs of the Asian population, good interpersonal and organizational skills. Candidate will report to the Executive Director.

Youth and Event coordinator
Member Duties
As one of 3 Vista team members the candidate will coordinate programs and events such as: Asian High School Leadership and Tutoring Programs, 2 large annual cultural festivals, bilingual Information and Referral services, Youth volunteer program, other collaborative programs with agencies which serve the Asian community and fundraising through grant writing and events. The candidate will learn about all aspects of running a non profit agency as well as other duties as necessary in a dynamic office and appropriate to the candidate's skill set. Qualifications: Fluency in Cantonese, Mandarin, or Vietnamese strongly preferred, an interest in immigrant communities, sensitivity to the needs of the Asian population, good interpersonal and organizational skills. Candidate will report to the Executive Director.


Requirement:
College level of education is a must. Language skill in Chinese or Vietnamese is highly preferred although not required. However, applicant should have some affinity with the Asian culture and the Asian communities.
