To foster and promote the development of the social, cultural, economic and civic lives of Asian Americans to benefit the entire community.
Quincy -The Quincy Asian Resources, Inc. (QARI) calls volunteers for the planning of the 18th Annual August Moon Festival to be held at President's Plaza on August 21, 2005 from 11-4pm. Members of the organization ask citizens to play their part in making this a truly amazing celebration.
This week, members met to create the essential working groups that include logistics, entertainment, sponsorship, marketing, and volunteer coordination. Organizers hope more people will contribute their time and ideas.
"The August Moon Festival is wonderful event which brings together the community to celebrate Asian cultures" said John Brothers, Executive Director of QARI. "We invite representatives of all of the cultures living on the South Shore to take part."
This year the organization hopes to get as many suggestions and help from the community as possible. Currently, approximately 50 North Quincy High School students have signed up as volunteers for the committee.
"Volunteers are essential to making an event successful. I commend all the participants taking time out of their busy schedule to attend meetings," said Denise Chan, QARI volunteer. "I know all the ideas will capitalize into something wonderful in August. When a group of people from various backgrounds get together to work on a great project, it truly creates a sense of community."
More than one hundred local businesses, government and social service agencies and individuals will be participating in the August Moon Festival. The Grand Sponsors of this year's festival are Kam Man Supermarket, Mohegan Sun and Sunshine Travel.
